Workshop 1

Curriculum

Why high quality PE is important to achieving the five hour offer

Although the partnerships within North Tyneside exceeded the 2006 PESSCL target of 75% of pupils participating in two hours of High Quality PE within and beyond the curriculum, the PDMs along with the PE, Sport and Physical Activity steering group felt we should reflect on how much of this delivery was of High Quality. A combination of partnerships and strategies were then developed to help schools recognise what HQ should look like and understand how it can be achieved. The session will highlight how existing programmes were strengthened and what new initiatives were then developed and implemented."
