Why high quality PE is important to achieving the five hour offer

This workshop will explore how the SSP infrastructure supports the development of two hours high quality physical education, which in turn leads to young people becoming more motivated to achieve the five hour target. It will explore roles and responsibilities within the infrastructure as well as mechanisms that focus on how to develop high quality physical education.

Curriculum

The Sport and Acitve Leisure Diploma and and Applied Learning

This workshop will give an introduction to the Sport and Active Leisure Diploma and how the School Sport Partnership can play a role as an employer within the diploma.  The workshop will look at how the SSP can provide applied learning opportunities for young people and the benefits this may provide for them.

Curriculum

Effective use of partners in professional development to ensure high quality PE

Stockton School Sports Parternship will share examples of how they have engaged a range of partners to provide a programme of CPD that goes beyond the traditional list of courses; and explain how this has impacted on the delivery of high quality PE in school.

Competition

From paper to reality – high quality delivery of the national competition frameworks

This workshop will overview latest developments on interschool competitions and highlight work being undertaken by Competition Managers based on new focussed NGB competitions.  It will give real life examples from Derbyshire.

Developing intra school competitions

How to develop an intra school competition programme that targets specific groups of young performers using modified and alternative sporting activities alongside traditional sports.  The workshop will include examples of how an intra school competition can fit within existing competition calendars and sporting frameworks and delegates will have the opportunity to review resources created specifically to cater for intra school competition programmes.

Leadership and volunteering pathways into coaching, officiating and event volunteering

Outlining a pathway for young people in leadership, volunteering and coaching.  Exploring sport specific models of progression and understanding a young persons journey.

Leadership academies in school sport partnerships

This session will introduce the broad aims and outcomes of a Leadership Academy.  The session will explore the four year journey and approach undertaken by North Stoke SSP in establishing a successful Leadership Academy, using the national guidance notes, highlight three quick wins and reinforce three outstanding challenges using North Stoke SSP, as a working example.
