Welcome to the new SSP Enhance online area. SSP Enhance is the new look package of education and training support for the School Sport Partnership infrastructure. This part of the website will grow to become the one-stop-shop of information relating to all infrastructure knowledge and skill development, which is provided by the Youth Sport Trust. The initial information housed on here is an overview of our support from September 2008. Going forward as our support develops we will update the webpage with course materials; best practice information and shared experiences from the network on any locally accessed professional development.

We regard continued professional development to be very important but don’t just take our word for it:
Because its never too late to teach an old dog new tricks!
Because we live in a culture of change and we need to have the skills to embrace it not fear it!
"Working as part of a School Sport Partnership is a constant learning experience - it highlights the gaps in your knowledge. Appropriate and relevant CPD gives you the opportunity to develop your strengths whilst extending your comfort zone."
Joyce Mathews, PDM, Newcastle SSP
“Attending CPD gives me time I wouldn’t normally take out for myself to reflect on how we are doing and to learn from others.”
Kate Lewis, PDM, The Arches School Sport Partnership
“CPD is an essential element in developing the School Sport Partnership. Every initiative we introduce is supported by a training programme to build knowledge and sustainability into what we are trying to achieve. Teachers and support staff value this training because it is relevant to them and their own professional development. Most importantly, good training leads to good outcomes for the pupils.”
Dean Gilmore, PDM, All Hallows SSP
"CPD is vitally important because it gives a precious High Quality space in which to reflect, review and re-Invigorate with like minded colleagues in this all too busy world."
Diane Snowsill, PDM, Sedgefield SSP
"CPD is essential for the up-skilling of teachers, coaches and ASLs. It gives them invaluable, increased self confidence and their improved knowledge and skills make for higher quality teaching, coaching and leading for young people- this will in turn lead to increased sustainability."
Michael Mastrolanardo, PDM, Laurence Jackson SSP
"Continuing Professional Development for me is about the opportunity to self review and re-evaluate work in progress, making provision for critical analysis of how to progress both functionally and individually, utilising my own qualities to meet the required goals and targets. While formal training days can be useful in the delivery of effective CPD it is also beneficial to network informally with colleagues who can often be the best 'critical friends'. Furthermore CPD needs to move from the outlined short and medium term priorities, to looking at individuals' needs in the long term."
Craig Vickers PDM Preston SSP
"Continuous Professional Development is so often perceived as attending training courses. This is just a small part of the whole process of ensuring that we all keep up to speed with the changing world of Physical Education, school sport and young people. Through development and enhancement of skills, knowledge and understanding in both formal and informal settings we will move towards meeting the agenda that every child does matter."
Nicky Collett, PDM, The Lancaster School and Sports College
