My Log Book

Important information for SSPs involved in Playground to Podium!

Race winnerMy Log Book has been created to support the delivery of the Playground to Podium framework by the Youth Sport Trust in collaboration with Parasport. It is an online resource designed to aid the tracking and effective signposting of young disabled pupils that have attended Identifying Ability Days. My Log Book provides a tool for SSPs to record results from their Identifying Ability Days and register the details of young disabled people confirmed as having higher abilities in PE and Sport. Whilst the resource is primarily for use at Identifying Ability Days it can also be used outside of these days and results can be added additionally by the user.

As part of the Playground to Podium framework, SSPs should deliver at least three Identifying Ability Days per year, consisting of two to three ‘multi sport’ days and at least one ‘aquatics’ focused day. From these days, the young disabled people confirmed as having higher abilities in PE and sport should be signposted into further participation opportunities and into County Assessment Centres.

For effective signposting to take place and for those pupils confirmed as having higher levels of ability to potentially progress onto County Assessment Centres, results from these days need to be collated. My Log Book has been designed to support this process by enabling SSPs to enter all of their Identifying Ability Day event information online including; staff information, pupil details, results of the ‘profiling physical ability’ tests, collation of the information from the day and production of certificates.

By collecting the young peoples’ results of the physical ability tests through My Log Book we can see how they compare to others on the day, in the region and eventually nationally. This can help to show the young person how they are progressing, but it can also help YST and Parasport by highlighting results that are indicators of potential talent. By using an automated system we can enhance accuracy and provide guidance for young people towards high quality clubs, coaching and opportunities that are the keys to further development and progress in sport. SSPs should also use My Log Book to register the details the 15 young disabled people who have been identified to progress onto the County Assessment Centres.

Each SSP engaged in the delivery of the Playground to Podium framework will need to register their Partnership to enable a unique username and password to be issued enabling access to My Log Book. This can be gained by going to www.parasport.org.uk/pdmregistration and typing in the password: mylogbook.
