Conference Content outcomes
Objectives of the conference:
- To increase PLTs knowledge and understanding of the 5 hour offer.
- To develop PLTs understanding of their changing role in light of the 5 hour offer, the competencies needed to fulfil the role and their confidence with these.
- To inform PLTs of national, regional and local achievements and developments relating to the PESSYP strategy.
- To support PLTs in identifying initial key actions to move their school forwards within the 5 hour offer.
National Picture – YST Keynote
Aims
To increase PLTs;
- Understanding of the 5 hour offer.
- Understanding of the Key partnerships needed to move towards the 5 hour offer.
- Knowledge and understanding of the SSP MER procedures, linking the Partnership Evaluation and Priorities Document to the school SEF.
- Understanding of the changing role of the PLT to achieve 5hr offer.
Local Picture (possibly in SSP/family clusters)
Aims
To increase PLTs;
- Understanding of current PESSCL data for the partnership and how this relates to national statistics.
- Identified areas of development locally moving forwards with the PESSYP strategy.
- Knowledge of key partners locally to support delivery of the 5 hour offer.
Workshops
1. Self evaluation against PLT knowledge and skills
Focus;
- The competencies needed to fulfil the PLT role in delivering the PESSYP strategy for all young people in their school.
- Opportunity to begin self evaluation against the competencies.
- Opportunity to begin to identify CPD needs to become more effective in the role.
It is expected that the identification of CPD needs will support the development of future training programmes
2. Engaging your Headteacher
Focus;
- How does the 5 hour offer link to Every Child Matters, healthy schools and other external agendas and initiatives.
- Moving your school forward – What could it look like? What does it look like now? How are you going to get there?
- Building sustainability with in the school to ensure god practice continues when staff change.
3. National Framework
Focus:
- engaging semi-sporty and uninterested young people in +1-3 hours
- Local context for the work of competition managers.
4. Stranded sessions (final content still to be formalised)
a) 2 hours HQ PE in the curriculum.
b) Participation + 3.
c) Developing Potential – including SEN, G&T and Competition.
d) Leadership & Volunteering – good practice KS1 & 2 (delivered by PLTs)
