SSP in BedfordshireThere have been so many exciting events at School Sport Partnerships during this very successful first National School Sport Week. One School Sport Partnership in Bedfordshire has added an international dimension to its week of events by inviting children from South African townships to join students for a week of fun activities.

The students from three schools in the Western Cape are spending a week with three sports college schools in Bedfordshire. The visit is part of the Youth Sport Trust Dreams + Teams programme and involves 39 children aged from 14 to 17 and six staff. This is their first trip out of South Africa.

They are taking part in activities organised by Redborne School in Ampthill, Biddenham in Bedford and Vandyke School in Leighton Buzzard. As well as a boat trip down the Thames and visited the Greenwich Maritime Museum, the students will be punting in Cambridge and playing tag rugby. Biddenham School is also holding a Sportsability Festival.

Dreams + Teams develops leadership skills and international awareness among young people and teachers, through sport, the arts and international educational links. In two years' time the Bedfordshire school will visit South Africa - in time for the World Cup. To find out more about Dreams + Teams please click here.
