Girls4Gold is a unique opportunity created by UK Sport and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in partnership with the Olympic sports of cycling, canoeing, rowing, sailing, modern pentathlon and bob skeleton.
The programme seeks to transfer many of the ‘ready made’ skills and abilities of talented ‘sporty’ females into targeted Olympic sports with the aim of fast-tracking them toward the medal rostrum in London 2012. Girls4Gold aims to provide young athletic females with an opportunity to discover their sport of ‘best fit’ and to develop under the guidance of elite level coaches in world class training and competition environments.
Applicants will have the opportunity to discover their potential in an alternative sport or sport of ‘best fit’, with the genuine prospect of competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Each sport will be able to proactively tap into female athletic talent in the UK, and provide access to high quality performance programmes, ultimately boosting the medal haul in 2012.
This is a fantastic opportunity for athletic girls out there who have not realised their full potential.
