Biddulph Cluster of Staffordshire Moorlands School Sports Partnership is tomorrow launching a new initiative designed to encourage and reward pupils in Biddulph to lead healthier more active lifestyles.
The initiative is called ‘Pass to Health’ and is a swipe card system that pupils will be able to gain points for eating healthy foods and taking part in exercise. These points will then be totalled up each term and pupils will be able to use these to get free activity sessions at the local leisure centre or other health related prizes.
All the schools in the Biddulph area are taking part in the scheme and this will involve over 2000 pupils between 4 -18 years old and school staff too. Sponsorship and support has been gained from community providers such as the Primary Care Trust, The Community and learning Partnership, Oxford Retail Data, Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, Morning fresh and a variety of different NGBs.
This is a unique and exciting way of getting children to adopt and learn about healthy lifestyles at school. If successful it will be rolled out across other areas, in other schools and will hopefully contribute to a healthier more active nation that understands the importance of staying healthy and keeping fit.
