Big Lottery Fund
What does the Big Lottery SSCo Programme mean for me as a Sports College?

PupilsAs a hub site for the School Sport Partnership a senior member of staff should be the signatory on the Grant Contract. Grant signatories are most likely to be: Head Teachers, Directors of Sport or Bursars.

The Grant Contract is a legal document that commits the school and hub site to its terms and conditions.

As a Grant Signatory ensure that you:

  • Read and understand the key criteria for the programme.
  • Read, understand and commit to the terms and conditions of the grant.
  • Ensure Big funding is held and managed in a separate cost centre within the school budget.
  • Regularly liaise with your Partnership Development Manager regarding management of the grant (refer to the calendar of key dates). This will ensure activities are compliant, monitoring and evaluation is taking place as well as appropriate strategies for sustainability are in place and  / or exit routes sought.
  • Ensure the Partnership Steering Group has oversight of the grant.

Please note that in some instances Local Authorities hold the grant for the partnership rather than the Sports College.

Whilst the Sports College holds the funding for the Partnership, a designated Sports College for over 500 pupils may still benefit from the Big grant for OSHL activity. 10% of grant beneficiaries and  / or 10% of the grant funding may be used for the school.
